When my Python RTS server is done,<br />
I'm curious, - How many servers can exist on one machine &quot;safely.&quot; Is Python multithreading strong enough to handle use of multiple ports simultaneously with out a flinch? I guess I mean, will I need as many machines as games hosted, or can I get away with many (gamestate on the server) servers on one machine? How many?<br />

How many Python RTS servers on one host?

Game programming is the software development of video games. Game programming requires substantial skill in software engineering as well as specialization in simulation, computer graphics, artificial intelligence, physics, audio programming, and input. Like other software, game development programs are generated from source code to the actual program by a compiler. Source code can be developed with almost any text editor, but most professional game programmers use a full integrated development environment (IDE).

Game Programming

Swift is a compiled programming language created for iOS, OS X, watchOS, tvOS and Linux development by Apple Inc. Swift is designed to work with Apple's Cocoa and Cocoa Touch frameworks and the large body of existing Objective-C code written for Apple products. Swift is intended to be more resilient to erroneous code ("safer") than Objective-C and also more concise. It is built with the LLVM compiler framework included in Xcode 6 and later and uses the Objective-C runtime, which allows C, Objective-C, C++ and Swift code to run within a single program. A second free implementation of Swift targets Microsoft's Common Language Infrastructure (a.k.a. .NET) and the Java/Android platform.

Swift Programming

Servers are computing devices that are similar to desktop computers in that they have the same basic components, but are significantly different in size, configuration and purpose. Servers are usually accessed over a network, and many run unattended, without a computer monitor, input device, audio hardware or USB interfaces. Many servers do not have a graphical user interface (GUI), and are configured and managed remotely. Servers typically include hardware redundancy such as dual power supplies, RAID disk systems, and ECC memory, along with extensive pre-boot memory testing and verification. Critical components might be hot swappable, and to guard against overheating, servers might have more powerful fans or use water cooling.

Server Hardware

Python is a widely used general-purpose, high-level programming language. Its design philosophy emphasizes code readability, and its syntax allows programmers to express concepts in fewer lines of code than would be possible in other languages. Python supports multiple programming paradigms, including object-oriented, imperative and functional programming or procedural styles. It features a dynamic type system and automatic memory management and has a large and comprehensive set of standard libraries, including NumPy, SciPy, Django, PyQuery, and PyLibrary.
