We have a computer running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit with a TrueCrypt data partition on which we need to enter a password to mount the volume each time the computer is restarted. When I try to use Backup Exec 2014 to back up this computer, I receive the following error:<br />

Completed status: Failed<br />
Final error: 0xe0008526 - Backup Exec could not locate a Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Services (VSS) software or hardware snapshot technology for this job. Select a valid VSS snapshot technology for the target computer.<br />

I did a bit of research and it seems like VSS cannot work properly on a mounted TrueCrypt volume. I did try going into Advanced Open FIle options for this backup job and unchecked &quot;Use snapshot technology&quot; but this had no effect. What can I do to get these backups working? The most important files are in a share on that TrueCrypt volume.<br />

Backup Exec 2014 will not backup TrueCrypt partition.

The term "Backup" means the methods and processes involved to copy computer data (system data as well as application data) to media other than the ones where the data originally live (disk, tape, optical, cloud). "Restore" in turn means the methods and processes involved in data recovery, i. e., bringing back copied computer data to their original location.
