I was trying to see what in my recycle bin and I could not do so. I right clicked on the basket and it took forever for it to load but then nothing. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Finding the $Recycle.bin file is not that easy.  Windows Search may not find it.  Once you have unhid Protected Operating System files per the reference given above, you should find $Recycle.bin in the C:\ Drive screen when you open Windows Explorer.  You should be able to Delete from there.  Then Reboot.

If this does not help, run SFC /SCANNOW from a command prompt.
