Hi,

I have a few users who have been connecting mail server through VPN connection. How can I configure owa for external users so that they do not have to connect to VPN? just simply type the username and password on the web.

are there any security concerns for this?

There is almost nothing to configure.
If you already have a trusted SSL certificate on the server, open port 443 from the internet and point it at Exchange. You will need an external host name (which you may already have).
Configure the relevant external URLs within Exchange.

As for security concerns - from a server OS point of view, very little as long as the server is fully patched. Most of the concerns will come from end users and their stupid password choices.

Simon.
