Replacing a netgear smart switch - how to download config?

I need to replace two Netgear GS724T Smart switches with like for like but I cannot seem to find out how to download the config file.  I have found the following - Maintenance, Download, HTTP Download, File Type=Text Configuration - at this point, if you click Choose File - it tries to upload/open a file!!

Is this a firmware issue or am I in the wrong place.

Also, once I have my config file, is it a case of plugging in the new switch and uploading the config file? (will this carry over my IP address and tagging?)

Thanks

The upload and download of files is described on page 228 of the manual

It says it uses TFTP, so you may need a lightweight TFTP application to retrieve the configuration and send it back. I use Solar Windows TFTP for this and did what you are trying to do with a Netopia Router.

Thank you very much, my goodness, the interface is very fussy but I managed to do it in the end.
One of my switches is different from the replacement (only just) - can I assume you can't put a config on non alike devices?

You should NOT put configurations on non-alike devices. This is because of firmware changes. Firmware can also affect like devices (had that happen to me).

But so long as devices are alike, you can try uploading a saved configuration and then check / edit as necessary.
