iBeacons - All There Is To Know

Hi,

I have been trying to find out some information online about iBeacons.

I am surprised that Apple do not seem to be marketing them that hard on their website... and i am also confused as to why you cannot buy them on Apples website.

QUESTIONS
01 - can anyone recommend a good website for buying iBeacons
02 - are there various different versions
03 - what range do they work under
04 - can you plug them in or do they operate on battery only
05 - if a company has an iBeacon in their shop, how does a customer communicate with it... does it show up under WiFi, Bluetooth or how do they connect to it
06 - is it possible to interact with or prompt users that an iBeacon is available
07 - a company called Estimote seem to be showing up for most results... what connection do they have with Apple

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thank you, apologies for the late response.

Do you know how many people (apps) an iBeacon can handle in one area.

Could one iBeacon support 2000 phones at an event?
as its name implies an ibeacon is a broadcast so there is no limitation on the amount of people using the app in proximity of the ibeacon.
