I've set recurrent reminders, things to do, meeting dates/timings
& appointments in Windows Mobile 6 and my kid's iPhone with
notification, say 1 hour before the actual appointment.

Now that my Windows Mobile 6 phone is dead & replaced with
Note 2 & I set them in a S-Planner but there's no notifications
nor pop-ups nor any sound/vibration that works in it.

any other tool or freeware or built-in feature in Android that
meet my reminder needs (which include recurrent appointments,
say every Tue 6pm, every weekday's knockoff time, just to name
a few)

Give me detailed steps of how to go about setting it
