I have Windows 8 but when trying to add IIS in my MMC console only IIS 6 is available.  How can I resolve this to administrate a W2k8r2  iis7 server?

I have Windows 8 but when trying to add IIS in my MMC console only IIS 6 is available.  How can I resolve this to administrate a W2k8r2  iis7 server?

Control panel|Programs and Features| Turn Windows features on or off

In the window that will appear you can choose your preferred interface to Internet Information Services

Also don't forget to enable remote management for IIS on your server:

Available snap in options
Guys this is what i mean.  The only available option is 6.0, but trying to connect to IIS 7.0.

You must install it as I suggested earlier. The link I posted will help you however it is simply just adding the feature.

Essentially. It is there but just needs to be enabled in the features so you can use it.
