Can I use woocommerce with my existing product database

I have a WordPress site with woocommerce installed and would like to populate it with my products that already exist in a MySQl Database (used on our other site with PHP code, never used with WordPress or woocommerce before).

The current product database is auto updated at least once a week and is used by other applications.
So in a perfect world it would be great if woocommerce could read from that database or make a copy and then auto update it (or manually we could do the update if needed).

Is this possible?

If so how would I get started?
Are there plugins that would help with this?

Or would it require custom coding in woocommerce?
If it requires custom coding can you point me towards the right files so I can start researching in the correct areas?

Thank you.

A possible approach would be to export the data from your MySQL database into a CSV file, and then use the WP All Import WooCommerce add-on to import the products into the WordPress database.

You could possibly automate the process using cron jobs and a few scripts.

You can find WP All Import here: http://www.wpallimport.com/woocommerce-product-import/

I have no relationship with WP All Import, but I do use it, and it is pretty good.
