PAGE_VERIFY CHECKSUM for system databases

as PAGE_VERIFY CHECKSUM is right for user databases, do you ideally want to see all databases on the server including checksum page verification?

this is the best page verification? is there overhead costs for turning this on for each database?

CHECKSUM is definitely best.  There's some very slight overhead, but you need it anyway.

even tempdb?

also can you summarize in 1-2 sentences- what is the actual benefit when put PAGE_VERIFY CHECKSUM, and what do we potentially lose when we don't?

See Books Online, topic "ALTER DATABASE SET", do a find for "CHECKSUM".

ok- thanks. so, to summarize, the benefit of 'CHECKSUM' for page verification, is that you will get a SQL error message right away. so you find the error sooner, right?

Yes, and it's a more thorough and accurate check.
