Compatibility View for Internet Explorer

Within my company, most users have their Internet Explorer setup for compatibility view by adding the domain to a certain internet explorer option for compatibility view settings found in the Tools/Compatibility View settings.  I am building a site where I want to nullify the compatibility view setting with a meta tag, would this meta tag be able to override this compatibility view setting within the browser?

Just add to the page
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=11" />

replace IE=11 with the latest version you want to force, e.g. for IE10 it would be IE=10

What if I'm dealing with a Asp.net master page and content page?

Doesn't matter, just add it to your master page.
