Hi,

What's the status of Netflix on Raspbmc? Is it only possible via Playon?

Possibly, you have to purchase the mpeg codec from the raspberry Pi web site
http://www.raspberrypi.com/mpeg-2-license-key/
You have the Pi version B with XBMC media center?
Quote>if you are using a Linux-based home theatre computer such as OpenELEC HTPC or Raspberry Pi, there is no direct way to get Netflix working. That's a line borrowed from here
In this guide, you will learn how to seamlessly use Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Instant Video and more with XBMC Media Center to get a unified user interface.
 Using one option called>>PlayLater.
and on youtube , I know it covers all but maybe worth it to see the whole process/ btw it's not free and is a work around.

the only way I know of to get netflix is through a  media server from a software you put on your computer and then you find it  in your xbmc on the rapspi http://www.playon.tv and it works fine.
So to save time
quote from The Only Raspberry Pi XBMC Tutorial You Will Ever Need
You will need to install a commercial software called PlayOn Media Server on your Windows-based PC that allows you to stream premium content channels into XBMC
Hulu, Netflix, Amazon VOD, HBO Go and other content channels on your Raspberry Pi.

The PlayOn Media Server costs about $60 a year
http://www.playon.tv/store/buy/?rsrc=sas&rsrc=sas
install it to your Windows-based computer. In order to register your copy, open PlayOn Settings (Go to Start / All Programs / PlayOn / PlayOn Settings) and enter the license information on the Registration tab.
Next, go to Videos menu in the XBMC. Select Files > Add Videos… > Browse > UPnP Devices > PlayOn (your computer name) and select OK.
