I have successfully installed vmware esxi version 5.5 in vmware workstation version 10
When I start the vm I get the familiar black and yellow interface and links to download the management tools
How do I actually get these tools - the links are not active
Please be specific as this interface is new to me

Quick Answer, there are no VMware Tools for ESXi. but read on..if you like...

Do you need the client to connect to ESXi - called the vSphere Client, or are you wanting VMware Tools which install in the VM (these are available from the VM/VMware Workstation Menu)

however, there are not really any VMware Tools for ESXi.

VMware Tools are available for Windows, Linux and Solaris....in VMware Workstation....

however, those clever guys at VMware Fling....have developed some, but these are probably only for ESXi nested ESXi

When ransomware hits your clients, what do you do?

MSPs: Endpoint security isn’t enough to prevent ransomware.
As the impact and severity of crypto ransomware attacks has grown, Webroot fought back, not just by building a next-gen endpoint solution capable of preventing ransomware attacks but also by being a thought leader.

When I start my esxi vm I get the option for hyperlinks to vmware management tools (in the bottom yellow part of the screen)
How do I get these from  the interface itself ?

You don't get them from the console window!

You Open a Browser to the ESXi IP Address.....

http://<IP Address of ESXi Host Server>

but these are just re-directs to the link I posted in the first post....

All this information is also included in the Article I posted with Screenshots....

Explained here, in this tutorial with screenshots

Part 2: HOW TO: Connect to the VMware vSphere Hypervisor 5.1 (ESXi 5.1) using the vSphere Client

or just download this...
