Why is SharePoint column Start Time not available in views and workflows?
I have created a new content type in SharePoint 2010 that inherits from Event, which is used for calendar entries. I can create and display items with the columns Start Time and End Time that are inherited from Event, but I can't display the values in views and I can't access the columns in workflows. Why is that?

I tried to follow the suggestions in the last article to refer to Start Date or EventDate instead, but that didn't work. I guess I just have create a column that isn't inherited from the Event content type.

Looking at the feature they're defined in the fields are sealed. I can't find documentation to tie this to what you're seeing, but I suspect that's the root cause.

OK, good to know
What I see people doing to actually solve it is to create their own columns to meet the requirement;
