Template/sample/starter kit for a web photo album

I need to build a web site. I have an SQL db containing a lot of family photos with attributes like name and location, etc. I want to display the photos in a nice gallery with a navigation mechanism, thumbnails and big image. There are a million styles for this sort of thing but I am not super picky.
Problems:
VS 2013 cannot find any online templates or samples of any kind
it has nothing remotely like this in the installed samples
searching for Visual Studio Gallery leads to posts about the feature of that name rather than templates that implement galleries
I am not finding anything helpful which surprises me because half the html templates in the world seem to be photo sites.
Please help me find sources for some sample code to get me started towards building a web photo shower written in c# and MVC. The more complete the better.

Apparently there is a WebMatrix start site called Photo Gallery that seems ideal. I see no way to get it into VS 2013. Also, there is some sample called PhluffyFotos which might be good (cannot see it to tell) but I also cannot get it into VS 2013.  Any ideas on how to give these a run?

You can put multiple photo galleries using free Wordpress.com (templates & hosting are free - but there may be size limits for the hosting)...

Here is a short article you can have a look at: Streamline Your Photos With New Tiled Galleries.

And here as well: How to have multiple photo albums on a page?

Thanks Paul but I am not looking to work with multiple photo galleries.

I am not very experienced and cannot even get started towards one gallery. I found the names of the samples above but the "Photo Gallery" one I cannot even find the place to get it. The other one seems to have been forced into Azure and the non-Azure versions seem to demand weird versions of SQL and VS.

If you really have no experience, then I'd say that you could easily learn to set up a blog on www. wordpress.com by signing up & selecting a 'photo-friendly' template.

Create a static page & on that page, create a simple photo gallery (start with 5 or 6 pics).

There are two approaches you can use: a series of static pages with a gallery on each page OR use blog pages and upload similar photos to each new blog post...

The hard part is learning how to set up a page - the themes are easy enough to use...

Thanks for your input about Wordpress Paul. I appreciate your continued work to try to help me.

I have some experience with other approaches and have put up WP and Joomla! sites in the past. I just don't have a lot of experience with the MVC stuff that I am looking into here (see original question). I am trying to do this with c# and MVC so that I can tie in the database that I already have and also because I wish to become more familiar with that architecture.
