HP 6520 Wireless Printer on Microsoft Surface 3 Printer Setup

My wife has retired and purchased a Micorsoft Surface 3 and an HP 6520 Wireless printer. Most of the time it works ok. She can install the printer using settings and devices on the surface. Sometimes the ip address that is on the printer is different from the one on the surface. I told her to delete the printer and reinstall it. It would reinstal using the new address and would work. She says that it should never change once it is installed. I can partially agree. She says the problem is my jury rigged network and she accuses me of tinkering. This is not true. I have a Cisco Linksys E 2000 wireless router properly installed. It has worked fine since installed. I can always print to the  printer from my laptop running Linux MInt 16.  Any suggestions would be appreciated. Since she is retired I am now corporate IT and I get the complaints.

Make sure your printer gets a static Ip from the Router's DHCP server.

The address that changes is on the Surface.  The printer seems to stay the same.
