Oralce RAC patching sequence

Dear all,

I know there are pre task and post task for RAC node patching, please suggest the correct way to patch the Oracle RAC environment including nodes and database instance.

before and after task is need and any URL easy to follow is welcome.

I'm not a RAC person so cannot provide personal experience. I believe there are several Experts here that do use RAC and they will likely comment later.

OPatch is the utility to do patch for Oracle nodes and DB?

It depends on the patch.

Some one-off patches are just file copies.
Patchsets can really be complete re-installs.

Every patch comes with installation instructions and should include RAC guidelines.

hi, never apply patch on oracle before, what is the site of downloading the patch with instruction ? how many way to deploy patch for RAC nodes?

on the link you show me: I see from the Rolling Patching section:

"This is performed group by group, separately, until all the nodes in the cluster are patched. "

so we create the group only when doing the patch ?

basically the minimum down time way and rolling patch method seems the same, right ?
