I have atatched the sample report. In the report footer which displays the total, how can I get the difference of the summarized data from the report footer.
For example to show total in the reportfooter under variance column, how can I get the variance to be 20003.34-21892.03 =- 1888.69 instead of getting the summarized value in the report footer.
Thanks All.

In your subreport, enter the following in a formula (like your totalvar formula):

Sum ({@perdiem}) - Sum ({@u&c})

If you look at the list of "Report Fields" while you're in the formula editor, you can see the summaries on the report.  The "Report Area" summaries are the grand totals (the summaries I used above).  The group summaries are listed too, with the group number and field, so you know which group they're for (assuming that you have more than one group).
