Task in Outlook 2013 wont sync to Sharepoint Online Task List

I would like to create recurring tasks in outlook and have them sync to a sharepoint online task list. I have it setup currently so that I can create the tasks in sharepoint online and they will sync to outlook using the "connect to outlook" feature of the list but if I create a task in the list it doesn't sync up into the sharepoint list.

I have also approached this in a different way trying to create the tasks with project professional and then syncing that to the sharepoint list which works but will not allow me to input the task description. I have tried to map the notes field in project with the Body field in the task list but that doesn't work it just creates Body0 as an extra custom field.

Just to clarify, are you talking about the "connect with Outlook" feature (older one) or the "Sync to Outlook" (newest). Read more about the difference here:

If you are using the older method, tasks will only update when you are logged both to Exchange AND SharePoint. And you will probably need to force a sync

As I am using sharepoint online in o365 so it is 2013. I have already read the kb you offered and it doesn't answer the question I asked at all. Did you think that it answers my question?

Do you know if i should be able to create a task in Outlook and have that sync and create a new record in the sharepoint task list? I that possible?

Tasks you create from Outlook/OWA are PERSONAL, you will find them under the personal page of the user (should be https://tenant-my.sharepoint.com/personal/user_domain_com/AllTasks.aspx).

I'm guessing you are referring to the Site task list instead? Not sure if this is possible, sorry.
