Small business Server 2011 with premium add'on pack

Hi Experts,

Quite some time ago i purchased windows small business server 2011 with the premium add'on pack. I am considering moving the Windows 2008 R2 (with SQL installed) to another site where no DC is present. Would i still be licence as i was previously if i am running it on a secondary site, (if so great) if not is there away to be licensed i.e. run a VPN?

Look forward to reading your comments.

No, in fact it won't even install because it won't see the SBS server domain

Hi Guys,

Its already installed, i want to move it. Yes it is the same business entity just different site.
You cannot rely on any answers given here.  Call MS.
If you establish a site to site VPN using hardware before attempting the server install, so that the server 2008 r2 is joined to the domain and then install the       Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 for Small Business you should be ok.   See the attached document for full details, but this is the pertinent section regarding the SQL server  "SQL Server 2008 R2 for Small Business contains a range of features that can help businesses maximize the value of their information with greater capabilities in development, manageability, business intelligence, and data warehousing. SQL Server 2008 R2 for Small Business has exactly the same capabilities as SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard, however it is only available to use in SBS 2011 and SBS 2008 environments."

Hi Chris,

The server is already deployed and running on the same network as the SBS2011 box. I want to disconnect it from the domain, move it to an alternate site and run it there instead.
as long as you have a site to site VPN you should be fine.   in your original post you talked about moving the software, not the server it was already installed on.
And the computers at the remote site would have to join the SBS 2011 domain
No, you cannot disconnect it from the domain.  " I think".

But you see it does not matter what any of us think.  Call MS.
Just to review
You can create a site to site VPN and move the server to the other location as long as the server remains part of the SBS domain and the computers that are connecting to it at the remote location must also join the domain and you must have CALs for those PCs

You cannot disjoin from the SBS domain, create a new domain and make it the DC for the new domain at the remote location.
I had to purchase new cal's in the end to be licenced correctly
called Microsoft and required more licencing
