"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The process of using CLONE will MERGE all the Snapshots into the Parent disks. This is to be expected.

Moving a VM with Snapshots can result in a failed move, and it's not advisable to move a VM with snapshots.

If you want to maintain the virtual disks and snapshots, you will need to copy the files manually.

e.g. Use WinSCP to download/copy all the files manually, between servers.

HOW TO: VMware Snapshots :- Be Patient

Please note performance of the VM running on a snapshot will be poor, compared to VM not running on a snapshot.

HOW TO: Clone or Copy a virtual machine in VMware vSphere Hypervisor ESX/ESXi 4.x or ESXi 5.0
