Fear - an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or is a threat. So, it probably doesn't matter if the situation is real or imagined. And, your reaction is to fight or flight. The self preservation instinct kicks in and you have a big adrenaline rush. Sometimes, don't have time to be afraid - you just react.

Re: "imagined"- just because you are afraid, does not mean there is nothing to be afraid of.

Re: don't have time to be afraid - you just react.

- can be enabled with benefit of training, such as that which includes driver's education and experience behind the wheel

- is reaction thoughtful or is someone just 'pushing your buttons'...

Of what? I currently have nothing that is causing me to be afraid. But, maybe, I am just not aware of a present danger.

Summing:
> probably doesn't matter if the situation is real or imagined
> just not aware

Hmm, good enough, something else to further explore there

Maybe had we newborn or teen on hand we could redirect. Until then, done here, time to move on.
