WSUS Service stops
Hello,
I am cursed in trying to migrate WSUS from a Windows 2008 R2 SP1 with SQL 2005 server to a Windows 2012 R2 with SQL 2012 server.
My current issue with this is now that I have got WSUS installed the WSUS service keeps stopping with the following error:
Update Services failed its initialization and stopped. Event ID 507
I have tried to run the wsusutil checkhealth but I receive the following:
Fatal Error: Unable to contact the WSUS Service. Please verify that WSUS is installed and running on the local machine.
Any help would be appreciate so I could put this beast to bed.

How often is it failing?

When I start it manually it fails within about 3-4 minutes. It does not stay running for any length of time.
What version of WSUS do you have running? I have seen articles, though somewhat old, stating that WSUS, at least up to version 6, is not compatible with SQL 2012 and advising to run it with the Windows Internal Database.

Thanks, Hypercat. I did verify that SQL 2012 is supported by WSUS in Windows 2012 Server.

Is it possible to put the exact error messages from the event log?

I basically had to build a new server and then install WSUS first. Once I did that i was able to run the migration successfully.
