According to this thread on the apple discussion page, you need to have the expansion kit to support OSX  https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3770606?start=0&tstart=0

The manual is no longer at the link listed, but I found another link here.  http://www.manualslib.com/manual/203115/Sharp-Mx-2310u.html?page=35

Re: Is Sharp MX-2310U printer supported by Mac in response to nagendrafrombangalore

This model does not supporting printing from Apple computers without the optional (and expensive) MX-PB14 PCL6 Expansion Kit.  Note the * next to the place where it says OS X is "supported" in the sales literature. For PostScript you need both the the MX-PB14 & the MX-PK11 PS3 Expansion Kit and as well.

see page 1-39

"Printer expansion kit MX-PB14 Adds a PCL6 or PCL5c printer function.

...

PS3 expansion kit MX-PK11 Enables the machine to be used as a Postscript compatible printer. To use the PS3 expansion kit, the printer expansion kit (MX-PB14) is required."
