What is the simple method of making drop-down lists in Excel

We have an Excel spreadsheet.  We want to add several drop-downs for the fill-in areas, if possible.  Is there a simple way to make drop-downs in Excel?

We will appreciate any assistance that you can give.

BTW, even when you define Drop down combos in your cells it is still possible to write any value into the cell e.g. by OLE Automation.

The information contained in both answers were great.  The example from "pcelba" is simpler and easier to understand. however, the additional information in Rey Obrero answer give more variety and understanding about how the system works.
