Workflow steps

Hi,

Here is my workflow scenario. I have a document library where users will be uploading an Excel file and I need to update a column of the library item with a Dynamically generated URL in the form of

http://mysite/Default.aspx?source=UNCPath to the uploaded file.

Please note that anything before "=" is a fixed string. I just need to dynamically build UNCPath for the uploaded Excel file. I need to check if created item is not a folder content type and the filetype is Excel.

How can this be achieved using SharePoint designer workflow?

Thank you.

I am not entirely sure I know what you are asking for.  However, if I do understand the question;

You could change your document library to have a calculated field that checks if the file type is Excel and then sets the calculated field equal to the filename.  Then use the workflow to check this field (calculated field) for a value when you don't have a url.  Then construct using your fixed string and the calculated field.
