How to access VM and remove 4 digit extension and return 3digit ext.

Here's the problem or issue I am having with Avaya Merlin Magix:

I have one lucent phone that is not working as the rest of the other phones or lines:

A. I must dial 4 digit extensions instead of 3.
B. I cannot retrieve my voice messages
C. I could make outbound calls instead of the phone calls go to front dest operator.

Please let me know how can I access VM and remove 4 digit extension and return 3digit ext?

How is this phone currently configured on the switch?  All of the issues you mention sound as if the phone is configured for 4-digit extension and kiosk mode.

Here's what I have found and resolved the issue:

A. The 4 line ext. cable must be punched in at the 66 block for an open 3 digit ext instead of 4.

B. To listen or retrieve VMX I needed to reset the phone to default and start all over and configure the phone as a new user since he/she had forgotten their phone password.

C. I have uploaded how to change, reset and configure the Avaya phones to work again.

Please pay close attention and follow the diagram in the pdf attachment how to proceed and make any changes.

P.S. Keep in mind if you cannot make any changes to any user Avaya phone, you may need to go to Administrator phone to over ride user configurations. The administered phone may be in back office, Telco room or simply ask someone where it is located if you are a field tech engineer.

To log into the System Admin tasks and make changes according to Merlin messaging Rel 3.0 system admin do the followings:

1. Press intercom 770
2. Press 0 #
3. Enter admin password
4. Press 9 then follow Merlin Messaging system from the attached pdf file here.

P.S./ You may have to consult with your administrator for the admin phone password. Some instructions here may differ from what your home/business setup.
