I setup all users on exchange 2013 but its displaying  myuser@mydomain.local instead of myuser@publicdomain.com .

I have to logon to https://localhost/owa  using the local domain as well.  I know this will be a quick fix. Ive already setup send connector etc.

Check this out, how to configure the email address policies in exchange 2010:
http://exchangeserverpro.com/change-business-email-domain/

I had not used it in 2013 but it is the same concept.

Now that the new domain as been added as an Accepted Domain the next step is to configure an Email Address Policy.

Email Address Policies determine which SMTP addresses as are assigned to which objects in the organization, such as mailboxes, contacts, and distribution groups. Each organization has at least one Email Address Policy that by default will apply to all mail-enabled objects.

Here we can see mailbox users assigned with @mydomain.net email addresses
