Foxit Reader - Cant open files on Mapped Drive

We are having a problem with Foxit PDF Reader - unable to open any file from a mapped drive. However if you access the same file using the UNC path, it works just fine. The error we get when opening the file is :

'.....File not found. Check if the file was moved, renamed, or deleted.'

I have uninstalled and re-installed the software, disabled protected/safe mode, disabled AV, disabled firewall, turned off UAC (pending a reboot), ran the program as an administrator, but nothing makes any difference. Can't find any settings in the program which relate to this either.

Anybody come across this before?

Can you see the mapped drive files in the Windows Explorer?
If you open a command prompt, can you see the files with a Dir command?

I would suggest talking with your network admin folks.  I had a similar 'file visibility' problem at a client site earlier this year with files on a NAS.
