RPC Server unavailable error printing from Server 2008 Terminal Services

One of our users has an error printing from Terminal Services to his local printer.
The set up is as follows:
-Server 2008 virtual server hosted on Server 2012 Hyper-V (was a physical machine before it was virtualized)
-User connects to Terminal Server across a gateway to gateway VPN with Sonicwall firewalls
-User's computer is running Windows 7 Professional
-Printer is an HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 that never has any other problems
--Printer is shared from user's machine and is set up as a local printer on the Terminal Server
--Printer does not have issues any other time

occasionally, the user will try to print and get the error "The RPC server is unavailable." This error goes away when I restart the print spooler serivce. I have to do this a couple times a week and he is stuck while he waits for me to fix the issue.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Is this using the Easy Print driver or the official HP driver?

HP Printers are generally less functional over terminal services from my experience- have you considered a third party application such as TSPrint?
