How can I reinstall the Speaker icon?

Until recently the Speaker icon was present on the task bar.  
Now it disappeared.
How can I reinstall it?
OS is Windows 8.1

Hello,

Have you tried the below method?

*Right click on or near time clock in notification area and select Properties.

properties Make sure Volume icon is set ‘On’ if it were off, make it on to show volume icon.*

Thanks for your prompt reply.
On System icons on or of  the icon Volume is off and cannot be changed.

OK can you possibly Open up task manager and end all processes named "explorer.exe" (this will rid of your taskbar etc but do not worry). Then go to File > Run new task and type in "explorer.exe" this should restore the volume icon.

If there's an issue restart your machine.
