Hi all I was just after a bit of Advice

We have a Customer who would like to Virtualize there environment.

They have Purchased a Dell PowerEdge R520 the server consists of

2 x 300 GB SAS Drives which I was going to use for the Operating System and
4 x 1.2 TB 10k SAS Drives Configured in a Raid 5

Is there any Preferred way to have the Virtual Machines on the Server, I was going to put all VMs etc on the RAID 5 Disks, but is there anything I would need to configure Volume wise that may effect Performance etc.

RAID 5 is no longer recommended by the vendors. http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/b/techcenter/archive/2012/08/14/new-equallogic-raid-tech-report-considerations-and-best-practices-released

With RAID 10 on the 4 1.2TB disks you will have much better performance.
