I am guessing you mean you cannot access the share you created but you can access the admin share or at least do a netview on the server object.

Error 58 is an authentication error and could be any number of things.

What OS are you using  (client / server) ?

You could try the following steps to ensure NTLM authentication is working as expected

    GPedit.msc
Windows Settings. Expand “Local Policies” and select “Security Options”
Alternate : Type secpol.msc to get editor up then
Locate “Network Security: LAN Manager Authentication Level” in the list and double-click it.
Change the setting from “Send NTMLv2 response only” to “Send LM & NTLM – use NTLMv2 session if negotiated”

Small update.

i left the domain and joined workgroup <

i can net view on local account. maybe its a domain wide issue but where do i start? last time i checked it was only his domain profile that couldn't net view. im going to go ahead and join the domain and try again and update this.

thanks

Okay, i connected to two other workstations and they can't net view either, what does this mean? something on the domain controller disabling the computers to net view while signed in as a domain user?
