I have File Maker Pro 8.5.
I have a table called Clients.
There is a field called Warning - this is a radio button and another field called Twomonthsdue.
For all records in the table I want to do the following:
  - Set Warning to 1
  - If Twomonthsdue>0 then set warning to 4

This is a one off requirement. I only need to do this once in order to tidy up some incorrect data in the database.

This would be easy for me if it was dbase but I'm very green when it comes to File Maker so clear instructions would be appreciated.

You can do a "Replace Field Contents" on that field (it's on the Records menu). Start by showing all records in the table. Select in the Warning field, then select "Replace Field Contents", then select "Replace with calculated result" with the following calculation:

If ( Twomonthsdue > 0; 4; 1 )

It will all be done in a few seconds.

Thanks historychef. You are a legend!
I had spotted that option in the menus but it was greyed out. Soon worked out that I needed to have the field selected, then it all worked like a dream.
Then I read your reply again and realised that you told me "Select in the Warning field" - DOH!
