Word 2010 Send as Attachment Feature (Win8)

We have a user that has a Thinkpad Yoga with WIndows 8 and Office 2010. We just deployed it to him, but his Send as attachment feature in Word 2010 locks up his computer when he tries to use it. We use Echange for email and he is using Outlook 2010 which is set up and working.

What he is doing:

1) Edit a Word document using the Stylus Pen tools in Word
2) Go to File | Save & Send | Send as Attachment
3) Word 2010 locks up and has to be ended via Taks Manager

I have tried to repair Office, but I would like to know if anyone else has seen this or has any other ideas.

Thank you.

Try removing Word and Outlook add-ins and also remove IE add-ins.

I have Office 2013 on Windows 8.1 and save/send as attachment  works on my machine. I keep add-ins very minimal.

The solution was to force Outlook to be the default in Windows defaults. It looks like the Windows 8 mail app was the default for some options. Thank you for the suggestion.

I found that the WIndows 8 mail app was causing the issue. Setting Outlook as the default through Windows defaults allowed the sending as attachment feature to work.
