Installing Exchange 2013 on Server 2012r2

Hello - i'm getting an error when installing the Unified Communications Managed API 4.0 prerequisite for Exchange 2013. Haven't found much on this. It holds up installing exchange 2013.
Anyone have insight or had a similar issue?

Two things I would try:

1. Install the vcredist_x64.exe file yourself before running the Exchange setup and see if you can get a more informative error.

2. Use the Exchange 2013 SP1 Install. You can download this from Microsoft and use the same key to install it. I had to do this on one of our systems here and it bypassed several other errors.

Let us know if either of these help or produce additional problems.

It is Exchange 2013 sp1.

I wonder which version of C++ it is trying to install...it already has 2005, 2008 x86, 2010 x86 installed. I googled this and tried to install C++ 2012 x64 and x86 and get an error "Key not for use in specified state".

if you go to programs and features -> view installed updates, do you see the update for 2918614 ?
if so, try removing it and run the UCM API installer again
