Outgoing SharePoint Mail Stuck in Queue

When we send messages from SharePoint 2010 the messages are stuck in the queue on the SharePoint Sever with SMTP installed.  NO error message.  The Windows Firewall is off and port 25 is open.

also check
In IIS manager, SMTP Virtual Server > Properties > Delievery > Outbound Connections. See if the limit number option is checked and has some value in it, if so then uncheck the option and restart SMTP server

Also check that your mailserver is accepting inbound connections from your sharepoint server.

This is a classic example of relay blocking.
