GWT RequestBuilder.setHeader or java.net.httpUrlConnection.SetRequestProperty

Hi Experts,

I am setting a header (sometimes with GWT, sometimes with httpurlConnection).  This header may have some characters that are not URL ready.  But headers are not URLs.  Do I need to URL.encode() the value of the headers?

Thanks,
Mike

I think it probably depends on the characters and language.  The standards that apply are here
http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5987
You probably want to work through from section 3.2 to see what applies to what you are doing.

This is perhaps a less academic presentation that might be a little clearer, but it is a bit old:
http://www.webstandards.org/learn/articles/askw3c/dec2002/

If you provide detail about what you are trying to put in the headers and what problems you are encountering, we might be able to give a more definitive answer.

That's good enough for me!  Thanks!  :-)
