iis w2012 r2 server

On a W2012 R2 server under services I do not see the listing for Internet Information Services. Has it name been changed or is it no longer a service that would be listed here and only stopped and started using IIS manager? How do you set the domain account that runs this service? Also, when I went into IIS 8 Manager under Sites there is no listing for Default Web Site. How do I go about restoring the default web site?

Have you added the Web Server role?

I am going to need to go through this tech sheet line by line. The Web Server Role was installed. Perhaps it will be best to uninstall IIS and start over.

If you have no sites hosted at this time, it probably is best to start over :)

I was called in after the initial installation. They were trying to get IIS ready for a third party application and the installation failed miserably. I have told them tomorrow we will just start over.

I have uninstalled IIS and reinstalled it. when I go to http://localhost there is nothing there. When I go into IIS there is no Default Web Site. How to I get the Default Web Site back?

did you delete the inetpub directory? make sure there's no other default location before reinstalling.

Does installing IIS(Web Server) create the inetpub folder? If so, I will delete it and try again.
