How can i speed up pop3 fetching speed in Gmail

Hi guy’s
I am having some issues with the speed at which G-mail fetches emails from other addresses using pop3.

This originally started when a client complained that some of her emails were taking a couple of  hours to come in. This is a big problem for her as a lot of emails are time sensitive. Not returning with quotes fairly quickly has affected the receiving of certain contracts.
After some research I decided to change from pop3 to direct forwarding through c-panel from our hosting service. This solved the time problem with emails arriving straight away.
The problem this has now thrown up is her mailbox quota on our server keeps filling up. I have checked with the hosting company about using forwarding and pop together, but they say she will then receive all emails twice.
Any research I have done seems to indicate that I am at G-mail’s mercy regarding when they pop the mail from outside accounts.
Does anybody have suggestions on how to speed this up or maybe an alternative route to take.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Cheers,
Robbie

thank you for your reply Joshua. I think the issue is the volume of emails coming in. if there is a large number then Google will check more frequently. I would like to know is it possible to speed this up manually?
regards,
Mark
To follow up on this issue.
I contacted the client and explained if she was to use both forwarding and pop, that she would still receive her emails straight away and they would be taken of our server but she would get all emails twice. (as i was told by our hosting company) she was still happy top do this. so i set her up as follows.

1. I set her personal gmail to pop email from the work email (on our server) not to leave a copy on server.
2. I set up a forwarder on c-panel from the work address to the gmail.

when i did this i was expecting gmail to pop down all email that was on the server giving double copies but it hasn't only new emails and they only arrive once as well.
so her work emails are now arriving straight away, one copy, they are being deleted from as server as they are popped. all seems to be working fine.
Can anybody see any issues to this set up or explain how she is not receive the emails twice!!

I would appreciate any input as if there is no problem with this set up then how come im being told they wont work together.
Cheers,
Robbie
