Sync Issue with exchange online and outlook 2010

Hi everyone,
I’m having a problem with my outlook 2010 and office 365 email, in only updates my inbox and folders when I select them one by one, if I don’t select it, the emails won’t arrive. I have already tried repairing the office suite, this helped and fixed the problem for 1 day, I also did a repair of my OST file with the scanpst utility. The problem persists. I have verified it is using cache mode and my account’s ost file is my default data file. I do have an additional PST file not connected to any account with old emails. My OST file is about 16.5GB and the historic PST file is 33GB.
also whenever I open Outlook it starts do sync and always says its downloading files 3MB, and it just gets to 2MB and just stops, this happens every time. My computer is running windows 7 Pro.
Please any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advanced.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

That ost is simply too big. Use the archiving feature that comes with Exchange Online and put all the older emails in the archive. You will still be able to access them and it's actually more convenient than using .pst files, as they will be accessible from everywhere (any device on which you can run OWA).
