Problem with starting Parallels 9 on OS X 10.9.5

Hi

I am suddenly unable to start Parallels 9 even though I have refrained from installing Yosemite. I have an OS X 10.9.5. The error message goes:

Unable to start Parallels services
Error 15381

Help anyone?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

why refrain from Yosemite? In any case you should update to Parallels 10.1.1and see if that fixes the problem. If you are reluctant to do that then reinstall Parallels Tools.

because i don't want to buy parallels 10. and becaue people say yosemite is not good if you don't have a retina display.

how do i reinstall parallels tools?

ps i checked the parallels forums and there it says to reinstall the parallels tools via the virtual machine. the problem is the virtuel machine does not open exactly because parallels fails to open.

OK glad you figured it out, and so just a final note to say that I have a late 2011 27" MAC and so of course no retina display, and for me at least there are absolutely no display problems.
