i run a small retail service shop we do many virus cleanups an os reloads.  To expadite updates i have deployed a WSUS (2012) server in order to perform updates on client computers it seems only domain attached computers can be added for update deployment. is this by design? is there a way around this?

Thanks

It is against Microsoft license terms to use WSUS for clients that are not owned by you/your company. You should look into using Wsusoffline.
