shellsock patch on vcentre appliance

What is the best method to apply shelsock patch on vcentre appliance whithout upgrading it.
https://myserver:5480 ten update fails. it says available update  that update to version 5.1.0 update2b ,but it fails when I click on install updates.

The answer is DONT!

If you apply any third party patches, (e.g. not from VMware) the support of the appliance, is not longer supported.

how do we apply the patches if the update does not work via https://myserver:5480?

Applying patches via Upgrade is the correct and supported method.

Check the logs as to why the supported patch/upgrade path is not working.
