can't digitally sign pdf included in a pdf portfolio

I am using Adobe XI, i can't digitally sign .pdf documents within a .pdf portfolio. This is the first time I have tried this in XI - worked perfectly in Adobe 8.

This appears to be a known issue with Adobe XI
