Which Android are you using. Most Androids have a PC program for backing up and accessing them.
If you plug into the USB port on your PC/LAptop - you should get a drive letter appearing - you can move or copy the pics from that drive to your PC

I think the best way is to connect the android phone to the PC with the USB to act as external disk. To do so:
1- Connect the USB to your phone and PC.
2- At your phone, in the notification bar, you will see message that said: "USB connected select to copy files to /from your computer. Tab that message.
3- A "USB Mass storage" screen will appear. Press the button "Turn on usb storage".
4- At your computer, a window containing phone SD card files and folders will open. Or go to your "My Computer" and you will find a new driver.
5- Locate your PIC file - usually "DCIM" and start to transfer your pics.
New android version will not need the steps "2" and "3".

Also you can do such thing using "blutooth" if you haven't the USB cable but the transfer will be slower.

We just discovered the issue was the USB cable being used. Tried different cable and transfer worked.

interc3905's question was about what method to do transfer pics from android to PC and there were number of comments explains how. These comments - I think - are answer his question. He did not mention that he already try any previsions method and failed. Then, we did not know if he actually try this solution before or after the comments.
