I am looking for a small form factor PC like the Raspberry Pi that has two Ethernet ports and can run a version of Linux from an SD card.

You can get USB to Ethernet adapters that work with the Raspberry. I've got one and it works just fine. If that's an option I can look up some details, ordered one at DX a while ago.

Thanks good to know for other purposes  - please send me the info - but for this project I want a self-contained unit that has two Ethernet ports built in.

Maybe that will fit your needs:  http://www.compulab.co.il/utilite-computer/web/utilite-models

FYI - I've got one of these: DX SKU: 170753

Note that both Raspberry and the Utilite are ARM based so your choice of Linux distributions will be limited.

Your SD card requirement will limit the available devices, is a thumb drive acceptable as well? Thumb drives are available in very small form factors, almost invisible in a USB slot.

I've built a system a while ago, mini itx board, 2G ram, 60G SSD, PCI express Gb LAN, SFF case. Do you have some max. physical size requirement?

Thanks for all the leads.

Gerwin: Thanks for the adapter link. As far as size, doesn't have to be supersmall. What was the size of the one you built? If you have full specs I would appreciate seeing them.

It's an Antec mini itx case I used for it, size would be around 20x25x35 cm - so not that small. There are smaller cases available, I just used this one as it was cheap. Mainboard is an Intel dual core Atom D425 1.8Ghz 10W TDP fanless design, additional network card just some Realtek PCI-Express low profile Gb card, disc is an OCZ vertex 60Gb SSD.
