Yes, but it is all Shell commands.
This TechNet article explains what you do to configure it.

Cannot enable the Attachment Filter -> "Attachment Filter Agent" was not found.

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

My error - I thought it was possible without Edge, but it appears not.
You will have to use a third party tool.
This one looks like it does similar functionality.

ok let me check the tool.
By the way, is it possible to install an EDGE server on a VM to use the features ?

Simon Butler (Sembee)ConsultantCommented:
You can install an Edge on to a virtual machine if you like.
However you will need an additional Exchange licence to do so. That usually means it is cheaper to install a third party product. I haven't deployed Edge or had Edge role in any design I have done ever. I feel Edge is a complete waste of time and money. I can achieve 905 of the functionality of Edge with third party products, and then have a lot more functionality than Edge using those products.

I certainly wouldn't deploy Edge for this functionality only.

No I am not using it, it was something that I found ages ago and it was in my notes.
I have no clients on anything older than Exchange 2010 now.
Even then I was using third party tools to do this job. The built in Exchange filtering simply isn't up to the job.

which tools you are using for filtering attachments ?
0

Simon Butler (Sembee)ConsultantCommented:
Don't do much filtering of attachments these days - as most antispam applications block the infected stuff as well (the same methods are used for sending spam as sending malware infected email). However for attachment removal, Exchange based AV is the most effective. Lots of choice there. GFI Mail Essentials Security is a popular choice I have in a number of locations.

I use Exchnage 2007. But the AV for email attachment filtering is not possible.

Simon Butler (Sembee)ConsultantCommented:
What do you mean by not possible? You would need to use a third party tool to do the filtering, not the native.

ok I see, so my Firewall cannot scan attachments inside emails.
In this case I have to buy someting extra ?

I thought maybe it is possible to do it tools on board of EXCH 2007.

Simon Butler (Sembee)ConsultantCommented:
It isn't possible using native tools. You need a third party application.
