I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You can just add the Gmail account to Outlook as a POP account, as Outlook POP accounts download all of the emails into a PST file. No need to convert anything!

Steps to add a Gmail POP account to Outlook can be found in these articles:
https://support.google.com/mail/troubleshooter/1668960?hl=en
http://www.thewindowsclub.com/configure-microsoft-outlook-gmail-manual-settings

Once you've set up the Gmail account in Outlook and it has downloaded all of the emails from the Gmail server, follow these steps to get the location of the PST file:
In Outlook 2010, click the File tab
Click Account Settings > click Account Settings again
On the Data Files tab, click on the entry for your Gmail account then click on Open File Location
You should then see the PST file for your Gmail account.

Hello WORKS2011,

I also have tried the above software "Gmail Backup" to get backup of my gmail account, but the software worked perfect for me.

Can you please share how you are trying to convert gmail into pst?

Thanks
Edwin

It asks for department however there is no field to place this information. Without it chat doesn't work.

You nay need to log into the gmail account in a web browser and change the settings to enable POP and/or IMAP. Without POP or IMAP enabled I doubt anything will be able to read the emails.

Thanks Edwin, did not have the option when I tried it in two different browsers.

@akb I made sure these were set, thank you.

I ended up creating a gmail archive (mbox), downloaded and converted this to PST.
