How to force TSL protocol from websphere to connect to another server

I have a problem. We need to make sure that our secure connections from an application running on websphere 7 use TLS instead of SSLv3. Could some one let me know where to make changes to any settings. we have a proxy server to connect to any external server.

Any help is highly appreciated.
